If you want to use Joomla1.5.22 instead of the most current version available, you can manually install it.
NOTE: Joomla! is a PHP-based application and will not work with Windows® hosting accounts running IIS6.

This article assumes you already set up the hosting account you want to use.

  2. Once your database has set up, locate its host name. For more information, see Locating Your Database's Host Name.
  3. If you are using a Linux hosting account, create a new FTP user. For more information, see Adding FTP Users to Your Shared Hosting Account. Enter the subdirectory where you want to install Joomla! as this user's Path.
  4. Download the Joomla! 1.5.22 Full Package here.
  5. Upload the ZIP file to your hosting account. For more information, see Uploading Files to Your Website or Using the Hosting Control Center Web-Based Java FTP Client.

  6. Unarchive the ZIP file to the directory where you want to install Joomla! For more information, see Unarchiving Files and Directories.
  7. Go to coolexample.com/installation where coolexample.com is your domain name and the folder where you unarchived the ZIP file.
