Hi fred,

Here's what's new at the http://www.investmentmind.com/ over the past few days. Your comments and feedback are always welcome.
  1. Debt: US Tops $15 Trillion - November 16, 2011 6:02 pm
All you have to do is check out USDebtClock.org for the depressing news. Total Debt Outstanding = $15 Trillion Debt per citizen = $48,000.  Debt per Family of Four = $192,000 So any family of four with a net worth less than $192,000 is effectively broke, thanks to the U.S. Government. (...)
  2. AMAT: Print and Guidance for Oct 2011 - November 16, 2011 5:31 pm
How healthy does this sound? From AMAT New orders were down 33% qoq to $1,595 mn driven by Display and Energy. Display orders were down 91% qoq and Energy orders declined 73% qoq. Silicon Systems bookings were down 25% qoq (Foundry was 46% of Silicon orders, Logic/Other represented 32%, Flash was 15%, and DRAM comprised 7%). (...)
  3. NH: Obama behind Romney by 10 - November 16, 2011 5:24 pm
With Romney up 10 on Obama versus Obama winning NH by 9 in 2008, the President faces a swing of 19% in voters. Extrapolate that and he might not win any state.  Then again, he shouldn’t. (...)
  4. MF Global: CME knew of Shortfall before CFTC - November 16, 2011 1:02 pm
This doesn’t bode well for Jon Corzine staying out of jail: Transfers at MF Global were made “in a manner that may have been designed to avoid detection,” CME said in the statement. (...)
  5. ECB: France Begs, Germany Resists - November 16, 2011 11:46 am
Weakness is revealed in crisis.  The French are weak, joining the Greeks, Italians, Spanish, Portuguese, and Irish.   Well maybe not the Irish, since they seem to be working instead of rioting.  The pressure is on Germany and will be on Germany until France loses its AAA credit rating. (...)
  6. QE3: Oct CPI Decline setting the stage - November 16, 2011 11:33 am
“To Infinity and Beyond!” Buzz Lightyear can read Ben Bernanke’s mind, or so it seems.  The next round of quantitative easing, or QE3, or money printing, or impoverishment of the people, or just plain Keynesian stupidity, is now teed up. (...)
  7. ECB: Germany Slams Printing - November 16, 2011 11:07 am
The money men of Germany are not playing along with Angela Merkel.  Merkel is a politician who lives in a dream world involving power – hers.  The money men remember and fear inflation.  Can they resist long enough for the German people to not re-elect Ms. Merkel? (...)
  8. Italy: New PM Monti - Will the People Support Him? - November 16, 2011 10:56 am
With Mario Monti as the new Prime Minister of Italy, will the people accept him and his ministers? Mr. Monti has decided to appoint technical people to the cabinet of Italy.  What is unclear is what political backing he will have. Elections have been squashed.  An unelected outsider has been brought in. (...)
  9. Greece: Deficit 9% & GDP -6% - November 16, 2011 10:30 am
In the good news category, Greece’s economy is expected to contract 6% and incur a government deficit of over 9%. Like schoolchildren, the forces of the EU and ECB are requiring written statements from the top political leaders that Greece will implement the necessary reforms.  In turn, funds will be released. (...)
  10. ECB: UniCredit Needs Cash - Capital Flight from Italy - November 16, 2011 9:07 am
Capital flight from Italian banks is under way. We hope you visited Italy in the last few years.  If you didn’t, you may want to wait a few years until the social unrest and economy settles down. Ciao! (...)
