Jr. System / Network Administrator

Type:

Info 2 Extreme, Inc. ("I2X", www.i2x.net) provides a wide range of software development, ISP and data center related products and services.

Description:

In this exciting and challenging role, you will assist in deploying, managing and maintaining I2X network assets. This includes performing OS, software, hardware,networking, technical support, and operational tasks. I2X has an extensive global client list, operates in multiple data centers, and manages a large number of servers and related networking equipment. You will work under the direction of the Director of Technology and alongside Network Engineering team members to fulfill your tasks.

This is a great opportunity to get involved in a solid company (since 1995) where you'll get your hands dirty with A LOT of cool technology. You'll be working on both internal systems and customer projects. We geek out over technology and, hopefully, you do too.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties:

• General system administrator responsibilities including OS (Linux and Windows) server installs and configurations
• Maintain I2X and client networks in a highly available state at all times
• Assist Internet Services Group in network deployments, OS installs, network device configurations, troubleshooting, management and support
• Hacking and intrusion detection, elimination and prevention
• Assist in customer and staff technical support issue resolution
• Maintain and publish Network Diagram and punch down port mappings
• Maintain and publish IP address list
• Perform hardware upgrades and software updates
• Various client/server account setup and maintenance roles
• Monitor server performance and benchmarks
• Monitor and maintain server log-file statistical reports using WebTrends
• Install server patches and service packs

Personal Qualifications:

• A Bachelor's Degree or Trade School Accreditation with experience in network engineering, Internet Service Provider operations, Data Center Services or relevant IT related work
• Must be highly detail oriented and have excellent interpersonal and English communication skills
• Must have excellent, thorough and methodical problem solving skills and a proven commitment to high quality workmanship

Technical Qualifications:

To qualify, you must have:
• Strong Active Directory experience including domain migration techniques and use of ADMT are required.
• Strong Linux experience REQUIRED. RedHat/CentOS preferred. If you've never compiled a kernel, don't bother
• Mysql, apache, rsync, and DNS/bind fluency REQUIRED. These are the main apps you will be supporting
• Understanding Java and PHP is REQUIRED. You will be supporting our programmers' custom apps
• A strong understanding of TCP/IP and security is REQUIRED. You should be versed in iptables. Network security practices
• Windows (XP, 2000, Server 2003, MS SQL Server, etc.) strongly suggested
• IIS and SQL Server are also employed in our network and you will be expected to aid in supporting them
• Virtualization (VMware) experience is a plus. At minimum, you are REQUIRED to understand how the different aspects of virtualization work and how they tie into the physical infrastructure/network
• An understanding of networking, especially WAN networking, is a plus. You will have the opportunity to work with T1s, DS3s, and 1Gbps WAN Ethernet over Fibre connections
• MCSE, CCNE certifications are a big plus
• Experience with network/data center security and firewalls a plus
• Experience with Macintosh a plus
• Experience with Cisco, Foundry Networks (Brocade), SonicWall a plus
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server database operations a plus
• Experience with SNMP, Big Brother and OpManager a plus
• Fluency in HTML a plus
• You must have a reliable mode of transportation, a cell phone and a reliable, high speed internet connection from wherever you live
